Dr. Jud Newborn—a seasoned on-camera expert—is a NY-based lecturer, author, historian & cultural anthropologist. He specializes in anti Semitism, extremist movements & the fight for freedom in our post 9/11 global community.

A pioneer in the creation of Holocaust Museums, Dr. Newborn helped build NY’s Museum of Jewish Heritage, serving as Founding Historian & Curator from 1986 to 2000. A Fulbright & Newcombe Fellow, he was educated at NYU, Cambridge University & the University of Chicago, where he was awarded his doctorate with Distinction.

He is also an expert on film, sexual politics, the environment & popular culture, & consults for L.I.’s renowned Cinema Arts Centre.

Newborn is co-author of SOPHIE SCHOLL AND THE WHITE ROSE (Oneworld, 2006), the definitive account of Christian students—-some former Hitler Youth fanatics-—who became the greatest heroes of Germany’s anti-Nazi resistance. The book is companion to the Oscar-nominated German film, “Sophie Scholl: The Final Days.” Also a poet & lyricist, Newborn has written for The New York Times, The Jerusalem Post, Newsday, The Chicago Tribune, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Nation & The Forward, as well as The UK's Jewish Chronicle & The NY Jewish Week, among other leading publications.

A dynamic public speaker, Dr. Newborn has appeared on national TV & lectured coast to coast, from L.A.’s Simon Wiesenthal Center & San Diego’s Old Globe Theater to NY’s National Arts Club, the United Nations, & from Canada to Cape Town. At the UN, speaking on the Holocaust at the height of the Balkan Crisis, he put aside “protocol” to decry their abandonment of Bosnian Muslims to mass murder. During the course of an adventurous career, Newborn hunted down Nazi perpetrators & worked briefly undercover for Poland’s Solidarity freedom movement, 6 months into Communist martial rule.

Only one day after 9/11, he wrote the world’s first Op Ed piece pinpointing the extremist ideology & motivation behind the World Trade Center attacks. It was cited by Governor Mario Cuomo on Larry King Live to answer the question, “Why do they hate us?”
